Master Control Operator

WVEC has an opening for a Part-Time Master Control Operator. Candidates must have experience in the following areas:

• Master Control Switching - Operate MC switcher and Louth automation, keep program and transmitter log; file discrepancy reports as needed; monitor outgoing program feeds of WVEC-TV and WVEC-DT.

• Master Control Video - Operate camera control units (CCU) for adjustment of proper video levels. Observe waveform monitor to determine correct video level and other video signal parameters. Report problems to Engineering.

• Satellite Receive Operation and Recording - Operate satellite antenna/receiver controls for acquisition of programs, news, and interstitial feeds. Operate videotape recorders and video servers for recording and playback of material. Monitor feeds and recordings for quality assurance.

• Videotape Playback for News Programming - Operate videotape playback equipment for live news telecasts. Follow news rundown, load and cue tapes, follow instructions from director and producer. Report problems to director.

Prefer candidates with two years experience in television master control operation. Position requires holding or obtaining SBE Television Operator Certification. Position requires working nights and weekends and will occasionally require working overtime. Position reports to the Master Control Operations Supervisor. Director/Producer

WVEC-TV has an immediate opportunity for an experienced live broadcast Director/Producer proficient at directing and technical directing fast-paced newscasts and other programming. Must have excellent operational knowledge of video switchers, DVE’s, still stores and other broadcast equipment. Minimum one year experience as a live director and technical director is mandatory. Experience producing multi-camera live remotes, lighting and CG are a plus. College degree in Mass Communications preferred. Television Broadcast Engineer

WVEC is seeking a television broadcast engineer. Essential functions include: installation and repair of broadcast and broadcast related IT equipment including digital audio consoles and related systems, intercom and IFB systems, electronic graphics systems, video/audio switchers; and familiarity with video servers, non-linear video editing systems, video cameras, broadcast television transmitters, digital microwave transmitters and receivers, and videotape recorders (Sony SX and Digital Betacam). Must be capable of repairs to the component level, and on occasion provide engineering support for live remote telecasts.

Physical requirements: position will require standing, walking, climbing ladders, balancing, running cables, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Work requires the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Minimum experience of three years television broadcast, cable television, or radio engineering experience. Interactive Account Executive

WVEC.com is looking for an Interactive AE who will be responsible for generating revenue by prospecting and selling interactive advertising campaigns. Responsible for calls, proposal preparation and presentations, successful closing negotiations, and meeting revenue goals. Qualified individuals will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a sales environment, media sales preferred. Ideal candidates for WVEC-TV/Channel 13 internships are current college students in their Junior or Senior year, with at least one quarter remaining before graduation. Liberal Arts majors are preferred, however, students majoring in other areas will also be considered. Qualified students must have strong written and oral communication skills and be interested in a broadcasting career.
Finalists will be contacted for a personal interview (Out of state finalists may be interviewed by phone only.) All internship offers will be confirmed by written notice.
